The Houston Alumni Chapter has partnered with the American Red Cross to Sound the Alarm, a home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event on on June 22nd from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Volunteers will install over 750 free smoke alarms to help increase the safety of over 300 families from home fires. Volunteers will work alongside fire departments and other local groups to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms, and educate families about fire prevention and safety.

Volunteers will meet at Jack Yates High School located at 3650 Alabama Street, Houston, Texas 77004. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Every day, seven people die in home fires and the Red Cross wants to do everything they can to prevent those needless tragedies.
